I am half French and grew up bilingually. I have lived in France and Belgium and know first hand what a bonus it is to be able to speak more than one language. I am a qualified secondary languages teacher with a broad experience teaching across the age range.
I graduated from Oxford University in 1997 with a degree in French language and literature and Linguistics. I completed my teacher training in Modern Foreign languages (French and German) at Queen’s in Belfast in 2000 and have been teaching a combination of French, German and English language and literature ever since.
After five years in secondary schools, first in Oxford, then London, I stopped to raise my three children who keep me young (at heart!) and help me to understand what motivates children and young people. I have been giving private lessons since 2008 and have not looked back.
I also work as a home tutor for Foundry College, Wokingham, delivering English GCSE across the exam boards to pupils not able to attend school, and am also connected to the local Home School network. I am a book and poetry lover and do everything I can to light a spark of connection and enjoyment between my students and the literature they are studying.
I love what I do and am always exploring news ideas which enhance language appreciation and progress.
I am fully CRB checked
My daughter had struggled through French for most of her school life. With GCSE’s looming we had to take action. I was put in touch with Suzanne at the beginning of the GCSE school year. My daughter’s French improved rapidly along with her confidence. So much so that she gained a B, which we were thrilled with as we were heading for a D/E. We had such a good experience that my son who suffered from the ‘I hate French gene’, also took tuition to pass his Common Entrance which he did enabling him to go to the school of his choice.
Both children found Suzanne to be approachable, patient, kind, calm and encouraging. She researched the work they were currently doing and made sure she followed the correct curriculum and was able to improve their French dramatically.

" Suzanne really helped me become confident in my French speaking skills and brought my predicted B up to an actual A*. Suzanne is really friendly and is positively encouraging. Thank you for everything".
Laura Boyd, Charvil September 2012
Henry has benefited greatly from the tutoring you have provided over the last 18 months. The one-to one sessions boosted his confidence with French generally but especially with the speaking part of his GCSE syllabus which was his particular weakness. His French teacher at school was very complimentary about the improvement she saw following his sessions with you and we are hoping for a good pass mark when his results come out in August. Thank you for all your help,
Mrs L Shapland, Winnersh
Thomas enjoys his French sessions with Suzanne. He gets a tremendous sense of achievement from the progress he is making and clearly has fun in the process, as witnessed by the wonderful video recordings they have showed me and the great variety of activities they do.
